Kern County residents – It is important to regularly care for your homegrown citrus and follow best practices to help protect it from the Asian citrus psyllid (ACP) and the fatal citrus plant disease it can spread, Huanglongbing (HLB). During Invasive Plant Pest and Disease Awareness Month, take some time to learn more about how you can help combat this dangerous pest and disease that could be in your own backyard.

  • Inspect trees for signs of the ACP and HLB and report any suspicious symptoms immediately to the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) at 1-800-491-1899.
  • Cooperate with agriculture officials – allow them to access your property to look for the disease.
  • Do not move citrus plants, leaves or foliage into or out of quarantine areas or across state or international borders. Keep it local.
